Camera operator Mark wanted to steady this long lens shot on the campus of Princeton University today (for a new episode of the Joni Eareckson Tada television show). But as he and the tripod were separated from one another (and the producer was declaring an end to the b-roll shooting - which could have lasted the entirety of this picturesque Autumn day), Mark did the perfectly reasonable thing and employed a New Jersey parking meter as a substitute tripod. Back at the hotel, it was determined that the shot looked magnificent. Below, the producer’s son looked on - and picked up a few more tricks of the trade.
We always prefer that our family of customers augment their home DVD library with copies of our films available here at the Franklin Springs website. But for people who might prefer a rental option, our films can now be found at another new location…

Hearing those words from Mr. Schlicher (the Director of Photography), a young production assistant springs into action…
While performing this function for a new episode of the Joni Eareckson Tada television program last week, the young P.A. received a thorough explanation from the D.P. about light properties as it relates to their being interpreted through the lens on a High Definition camera.
The rich value of mentoring and apprenticeships will be addressed further in our upcoming film about Family Businesses. Stay tuned…
Editing is proceeding with our new Homestead Blessings series, featuring the West Ladies, who many of you met in A Journey Home and Inherit the Land. The Art of Breadmaking, The Art of Soapmaking, and The Art of Candlemaking will be released within the next several weeks. Stay tuned!
For the last five months, a local church body in Tennessee has missed seeing the Kevin Pine family each Lord’s Day. But they’ve been encouraged and ministered to during that time, knowing that the Pines have taken up temporary residence in Los Angeles at the home of Kevin’s mother for the purpose of caring for her as her health declined.
Mrs. Pine went to be with the Lord last week. But for the last months of her life, her needs were attended to by the Pines and their four children. We rejoiced that Mrs. Pine was enjoying the earthly blessing of seeing her children’s children (Psalm 128) on a daily basis.
Kevin sent a few pictures today, and we asked his permission to share one with you.
The picture below of 5 year old Lauren with her 86 year old grandmother says more than we’ll ever be able to communicate in one of our Franklin Springs films. It captures beautifully the vision of family life that we can only hope to further with our projects.
Please pray for the Pine family this week. While we mourn their loss, we are so grateful for the portrayal they’ve provided of a well functioning family during life’s most difficult times.
We are happy to make available public license opportunities for church and public libraries interested in licensing any of our current or future film titles. For more information about how these opportunities can benefit your library please write us by visiting our contact page.
Here’s an early teaser trailer for a new project about which the entire Franklin Springs team is very excited. We’ll be releasing more details about this forthcoming film in the days to come. For now, here’s a :30 peek…
The Lingo Family recently moved to Centerville, TN to start their homesteading experience. They’re now selling produce (pictured below) from their beautiful hilltop farm through a CSA (community supported agriculture) group.
We’re looking forward to a follow-up DVD to our popular Inherit the Land film. What would you like to see in that film? Let us know by writing to us on our contact page.
Our forthcoming Family Worship DVD will explore the benefits enjoyed by families who gather for devotions throughout the week.
A small country church consisting of many such families celebrated their first Sunday in their new building last week in Centerville, TN. And until they meet again, they’ll be celebrating the truths of scripture in their homes, strengthening the church and her families in the process.
Production on the Family Worship DVD is underway currently; we anticipate the film being released near the end of 2008.
